A little history about your Suzuki car…

Currently headquartered in Japan, Suzuki is presently the ninth biggest carmaker in the world and it’s most popular in Asian nations, US, and Europe as well. Aside from automobiles, the company is considerably involved with the manufacture of various types of motorised transport such as ATVs, boat engines and even wheelchairs. The car manufacturer provides vehicles in over 190 countries. Additionally, it has 133 distributors across the globe.

Interestingly, Suzuki started its operations as a loom company. The company began manufacturing automobiles in 1937, although it was founded in 1909. Like most car manufacturers, Suzuki had to halt its automotive operations during World War II. It got back to the business after the war, and returned to looms, but because of the cotton production failure during the 50s, the company was brought back to engine production. Rather than leading off with automobile production, Suzuki started to produce motorcycles and motorised bicycles instead.

Suzuki returned to automobile manufacture in 1955 when it launched the Suzulight. In 1985, the company entered the US market and collaborated with GM to sell a variety of cars. In 2008, GM sold all of its remaining shares in the company and today, Suzuki collaborates with Volkswagen.
