A little history about your Isuzu car…

As one of the oldest Japanese automakers, Isuzu’s history can be traced back to 1916, when Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. and Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co. planned to produce automobiles. Japan’s first locally manufactured truck, named Wolsely model A-9 was produced in 1922. In 1934, the brand name was renamed “Isuzu” after meeting the Ministry of Trade and Industry standards. Isuzu is derived from the Isuzu River near the Ise Shrine. This is where the company name originated from. The company had been formally renamed “Isuzu Motors Limited” in 1949.
Isuzu’s passion for building trucks is firmly connected to the WWII period when the company had developed and produced trucks at a fast pace since trucks were mainly required for carrying all types of foods and products during and after the war.
Since the 70s, Isuzu has been working with GM which holds 49% of the automaker’s stocks. Today, Isuzu mostly manufactures commercial vehicles.
