A little history about your Audi car…

August Horch founded Audi in 1909, having been expelled from the previous company which he started in 1899. Eventually, the two companies merged in 1932 together with DKW and Wanderer, creating Auto Union which is the origin of the popular four-ringed logo. The rings symbolise each of the four companies.

Same as most carmakers, Audi diverted its manufacturing focus towards the production and import of cars for military use during World War II. However, as the war ended, war reparations had to be provided which resulted to the dissolution of the Auto Union plants. To continue company operations, Audi had to make use of loans from the Bavarian government. This served as a precursor to further buyouts leading to the present situation of Audi in which 99.7% of the company is owned by Volkswagen Group.

By the 80s, Audi somehow developed an unfavourable reputation for producing classy yet boring cars. But with the advent of the Audio Quattro, a turbocharged rally car, the world’s attention was captured by its appealing and exciting design. The automotive manufacturer has then experienced a series of fluctuating successful events, suffering from decreased sales in the 90s for stylish chassis of the models with unexpectedly poor performance and getting back on the track in 1996 when the A4 was introduced. Today, Audi is perceptibly considered as a luxury car.
