A little history about your Alfa Romeo vehicle…

Alfa Romeo is an Italian car manufacturer which was founded in 1906. Originally known as Societa Anonima Italiana Darracq, the company first began producing cars in Naples but eventually made Milan its home. To address the problem of poorly selling cars, a splinter company had been created in 1909 by Cavaliere Ugo Stella, who was one of the original investors. The company was called ALFA which stands for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobil. The second part of the company’s name, Romeo, was added in 1920.

In its earlier history, Alfa Romeo had been prominent in producing racing cars, although this success was halted as Word War I began. Consequently, the company chose to manufacture military hardware. When the war ended, the company started to produce railway carriages from plants located around Italy. Car production resumed in 1919 and just a year later, Alfa Romeo became successful on the line of racing circuit once again. It became reputable for solid road and race cars which manifested both class and performance.

During the 1960s, Alfa Romeo cars were commonly used by the Italian police and government. This paved the way to the Italian identity and reputation of Alfa Romeo. A large factor in Alfa Romeo’s image constitutes the company’s flair for design and technological innovation. In 1986, the company was acquired by Fiat Group.

Today, Alfa Romeo offers a vast selection of vehicles, from standard family cars to the impressive, eye-catching convertible Spider. All of the models exude the same style and menacing presence that only Italian automakers can capture so well.
